CrewDash BMI Calculator - Launch Methodology
This page explains how the CrewDash BMI Calculator works, which reference categories it uses, how CrewDash candidate guidance is separated from standard BMI classification, and the main authoritative sources used for general health context.
1
Body Mass Index (BMI) is calculated from a person's weight and height using the standard adult formula: BMI = weight in kilograms ÷ (height in metres × height in metres) Where imperial or mixed units are entered, the CrewDash tool converts the measurements locally in the user's browser before applying the same metric BMI formula. The calculation is mathematical and deterministic. Sex does not change the standard adult BMI formula or the BMI category thresholds used by the calculator.
2
CrewDash displays the standard adult BMI categories separately from any CrewDash candidate guidance. • Underweight: BMI below 18.5 • Healthy weight: BMI 18.5 to 24.9 • Overweight: BMI 25.0 to 29.9 • Obesity: BMI 30.0 or above
For the expanded classification view, obesity may be shown as Class 1 (30.0-34.9), Class 2 (35.0-39.9) and Class 3 (40.0 or above).
3
CrewDash uses a narrower candidate-focused guidance band of BMI 18.5 to 23 for the Crew Check feature. This CrewDash band is not presented as a universal airline acceptance threshold. It is an informational coaching reference intended to help cabin crew candidates interpret their result in a more conservative candidate-focused context. • Below CrewDash guidance: BMI below 18.5 • Within CrewDash guidance: BMI 18.5 to 23 • Above CrewDash guidance: BMI above 23
A BMI between 23 and 24.9 remains within the standard adult healthy-weight category even though it sits above the narrower CrewDash candidate guidance band. CrewDash guidance does not determine or guarantee airline eligibility, recruitment success or medical clearance. Airlines may use different standards and may consider other factors.
4
When the tool displays a standard healthy reference weight range for the entered height, it calculates the weights corresponding mathematically to BMI 18.5 and BMI 24.9 at that height. This is shown as a mathematical BMI-based reference only. It is not presented as an ideal weight, personal target, diagnosis or instruction to gain or lose weight.
5
BMI is widely used because it is simple and useful for broad screening and population-level classification, but it has important limitations. • BMI does not directly measure body fat. • BMI does not distinguish fat mass from muscle, bone or body water. • Athletic or highly muscular people may be placed in a higher BMI category despite other favorable health markers. • Pregnancy, certain medical conditions, age-related changes and other individual factors may make standard adult BMI less informative. • BMI alone does not determine fitness, stamina, mobility, medical suitability or airline recruitment eligibility.
6
The personalized 'Your Next Move' section is educational and is selected according to the BMI category and CrewDash guidance state. It is designed to provide practical context rather than medical treatment advice. The guidance should not infer body-fat percentage, fitness level, diet quality, medical history or readiness for exercise from BMI alone. Where a result is unexpected, persistent, associated with unexplained weight change or raises a health concern, the user is encouraged to seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
7
The CrewDash BMI calculation is designed to run locally in the user's browser. Exact height, exact weight and exact BMI are not intentionally sent to NoraDash product analytics. NoraDash may record coarse, privacy-minimized product events such as broad BMI category, Crew Check state, unit combination, language, device category and selected interface actions. Optional sex selection may be included only if voluntarily provided. See the NoraDash Privacy Policy for the full privacy and analytics description.

NoraDash and CrewDash are independent resources. References to airlines or public-health organizations do not imply endorsement, sponsorship or affiliation. Methodology, links and explanatory content may be updated when authoritative guidance changes or when the calculator is improved. The BMI formula and standard adult category boundaries should not be changed without a documented methodological reason and an updated source review.
