Standard adult BMI interpretation

The ranges at a glance

< 18.5

18.5–24.9

Healthy weight. BMI above 23 remains healthy while sitting above the narrower CrewDash guidance band.

25–29.9

Overweight. BMI is a screening reference and does not diagnose health.

≥ 30

Obesity. A clinician can consider BMI alongside history and other relevant checks.

01

Put BMI in context

BMI is useful because it is simple. That is also its limit.

Muscle and body composition

BMI cannot separate body fat from muscle, bone or fluid. Athletic and muscular people may be placed in a higher category even when other health markers are strong.

Life stage and medical context

Pregnancy, some health conditions and changes with age can make a standard adult BMI result less informative. Use professional guidance when these apply.

BMI for Cabin Crew and Flight Attendant Candidates

There is no single worldwide airline BMI standard. CrewDash uses 18.5 to 23 as informational candidate guidance only. It is not an official airline rule and does not determine eligibility. Airlines set their own recruitment and medical requirements.

How this tool works

Your measurements are converted locally in your browser. BMI is kilograms divided by metres squared. Standard adult categories are shown separately from CrewDash coaching guidance.

BMI = kg ÷ m²
